Muscat Gate Hotel

At 11 PM, there was no way to replace my son’s antibiotic medicine, which needed to be kept at 2-8°C. Hotel staff had left it outside our room, and it spoiled. This happened after they mistakenly treated our room as checked out and removed all our belongings, even though I had checked in that afternoon and still had the key to room 504. My wife and young son were left waiting outside, exhausted and wanting to sleep. I questioned reception about who had authorized entry, but they kept saying the previous guest had checked out. It took another 10 minutes after I showed my Agoda receipt for them to understand the mistake and return our baggage. The receptionist wouldn’t help while my wife and child waited until he accepted it was the hotel’s error. I had booked and paid in full through Agoda, checking in on 15/01/2026 at 2:40 PM. We’d gone to Muscat Festival at Qurum Park and returned around 10:30 PM to find everything gone. Housekeeping casually told me the family in the room had vacated that day, which made no sense since that was us. This was the worst hotel stay of my life. The lack of responsibility and the disregard for guest safety and comfort were unacceptable. I’ll never stay here again and strongly advise families against booking it.

The room was comfortable and spacious, and the hotel was clean, modern and well maintained. Its location made it convenient for getting around Muscat. What really made my stay was the reception team. Mr. Sultan saif welcomed me warmly and professionally, and was courteous, attentive and incredibly helpful throughout. His positive attitude set the tone. His front desk colleagues were just as friendly and efficient, and the team made the place feel welcoming and comfortable, like home. My stay at Muscat Gate Hotel was wonderful from beginning to end. Everything exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Muscat, especially for the people and hospitality. Thank you, Mr. Sultan and team!

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel after how the price issue was handled. I walked in without a reservation, got a quoted rate, then pointed out before signing that the nightly price listed on the contract was wrong. The young receptionist agreed it was incorrect. But I was charged much more than the quote, even above the online price. When I raised it a few minutes later, he denied the problem and said he’d given me that higher price from the start, which wasn’t true. I asked to cancel and get a refund, but he said he needed a manager’s approval and that no manager would be at reception for two days. There was no apology, and I saw no working ethics, hospitality or professionalism. I gave two stars because everything else is great.

The airport was an easy drive away, and reception let us check out late without an extra fee. Our room was clean and comfortable, and everything went perfectly during our stay.
