W Muscat Hotel

The beds were so comfortable, and the pool loungers were great too. With towels provided at the pool, it was easy to relax. The sea view from our room was lovely, and the corridors and hotel entrance had a calm, elegant look. Service felt like genuine hospitality. Staff were friendly and attentive, took concerns seriously, and tried to help with a smile. Daniela from Guest Relations also helped with a few extra requests, which we really appreciated. The public spaces and room were clean and well kept. Room service was very well organized. The room got a thorough clean in the morning, then another careful tidy and shutdown service in the evening. Breakfast had fresh, high-quality food and plenty of choice. Some made-to-order dishes took a bit longer, but the wait was worth it. The hotel restaurant was consistently good too, and Buddha Lounge on the top floor stood out for its distinctive design and very good food. It was a comfortable stay with strong service and food. We’re coming back!!

The room was huge, thanks to a surprise suite upgrade. We liked the unusual layout, though the bathroom had no wall separating it from the bedroom, so that may not suit everyone. The lobby design was beautiful, too. The receptionist, a Black woman, was friendly, helpful, and informative, which made a great first impression. Breakfast was tasty, though the staff seemed less proactive than at the St Regis. Hassan at Burger and Lobster was welcoming and made a real effort to chat with us. One awkward moment happened at the entrance. I greeted a man in a blue suit, but he didn’t reply and turned to speak with his colleague. His colleague noticed something was off and gestured, but by then I’d waited long enough that I said, “You’re clearly too busy, I’ll ask someone else.” It annoyed me. I suspect he may not speak English, and I’ve heard that in Omani culture people may scan the room once and then be done. This was our favorite hotel in Muscat overall.

We only stayed two nights, and leaving was the one disappointing part. Kiki, the GM, was attentive and lovely, and the W staff looked after things from the moment we arrived. The rooms, facilities, pool, and food and drinks were all superb. Breakfast had just about everything, and the quality was excellent. The pool was beautiful and refreshing, and the location couldn’t be better. We’d choose the W again in a heartbeat. We also spent a night at the JW, but would easily pick the W. I wish more hotels aimed for this kind of stay.

We had a great stay and would happily book here again when we return to Muscat. One downside was the slow checkout. Also, the Siddharta lounge infinity pool has restrictive hours, so we couldn’t enjoy it on the day we went out exploring. There are several restaurants and bars on site, including Burger and Lobster, Char, and Wet Deck. Drink prices seemed normal, especially for cocktails, and there were happy hour deals and other offers during the week. The gym is a good size and has plenty of equipment, including a smith machine. Breakfast was one of the best I’ve had at a hotel. Staff took our coffee and tea orders at the table, along with orders from a long egg menu, and the rest was a huge buffet with pretty much everything you could think of. There are two pools: a very large one on the ground level that’s open 24 hours, and a rooftop infinity pool with a jacuzzi beside it at Siddharta lounge. Our rooms were spacious, modern, and comfortable, with king-size beds. We got a free upgrade, and our rooms were next to each other, which worked well for our family. The hotel also left us a birthday cake to celebrate in the room. Water was available throughout the hotel at no charge, with bottles topped up in the room and ice buckets by the pool. Valet parking was free, which was convenient. Check-in was quick and easy, though they took a card deposit at check-in and refunded it after checkout. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout.
