If you want to immerse yourself in the culture on a trip to Jebel Akhdar, I think staying at the Hanging Terraces is the best choice. I travel a lot and work in hospitality, so I feel I know what makes a stay memorable. The accommodation is distinctive and has everything you might need. It feels authentic, and the location is better than the other 4-5 star hotels on the mountain. The Omanis who run the resort are well trained and attentive to details that could otherwise leave guests with a bad impression. Thank you to Mr. Ali and Ahmed at the front desk, you’re doing a great job. I can’t wait to return. Booking direct would surely help them.

We’d been exploring the area while staying nearby when we came across Hanging Terraces. We only peeked in, but the two gentlemen welcomed us inside for tea and dates. They shared stories about the region and its culture and explained why Frankincense is important. We were just strangers passing by, so that warm welcome felt unexpected and beautiful. It’s been a while, but I finally got around to writing this.

The setting is right at the edge of a cliff, with lovely views over nearby villages and agricultural terraces. Our room was large and comfortable, with its own balcony. Great hotel and location, and both breakfast and dinner were excellent. I’d love to visit again.

The team were attentive and amazing, and the stay felt like a real experience that was worth the money. They know how to run an authentic place. Everything worked, including the room air conditioning or heating, WiFi and shower. The rooms were super clean and quiet, and dinner and breakfast were nice. Full 5*.

After hiking the village trails, we came to this spot for its breathtaking panoramic views over the terraced hillsides, valley and surrounding mountains. Yahya served us cool drinks with real charm and hospitality.
