It's an up-and-coming resort area, but getting groceries or finding entertainment off the resort takes about a 30minute drive. There's only one road in, and it's poorly maintained. Be ready to brush up on Spanish, since most restaurants and service staff don't speak English.

We walked a mile along the beach on a weekday and didn't see NOBODY else. It still feels undiscovered. Weekends do get busy with locals on vacation, so come during the week if you want a private beach.

The staff at the Radisson Hotel in Playa Caracol are very friendly, and it's a nice place to stay by the sea. They have restaurants and offered free meals. Apartments and Townhomes are also available for sale.

It's about an hour and a half from Panama City and a great place to stay and enjoy yourself. Just keep in mind that the power and water can go out.
