Monkey Lodge Panama

Our lodge had a lovely terrace overlooking a beautiful garden, where we spotted several birds and butterflies. The owners were nice, and the service was fantastic. Our daughter needs glutenfree food, and they made her a nice glutenfree dinner and breakfast. She's supersensitive to gluten but had no problems afterwards. One last tip, try the great homemade cocktails.

The food was delicious, freshly cooked on-site, and felt homemade. We also spent some restful days at Monkey Lodge between tours, with hammocks, poolside lounges, yoga sessions and bird watching. It was a great balance of activity and downtime. We spent 8 days there recently, and the team made us feel welcome from the minute we arrived. They arranged several wonderful guided trips, including Gatun Lake, the Caribbean islands, jungle treks and the Discovery Center. We upgraded each one to a private tour, and the team happily adjusted them to suit our group's interests and activity levels. Everyone was attentive and helped make the stay memorable. We often saw the owners tending the garden or working in the office, and you could tell they put a lot into the place. Max and Mia were absolute gems and took care of all the details. Clemente was also great on our lake tour, guiding us with care and knowledge. Monkey Lodge exceeded our expectations, and I highly recommend it for a unique, immersive and relaxing stay in Panama.

What a treat! We spent 5 adventure-filled days here in Panamá at Christmas, with my spouse and brother-in-law. Fabrice, his wife and son were all wonderful. We took 3 tours, and every penny was worth it. Clemont guided us when we visited the indigenous village and waterfalls. He was funny and friendly, and like the other Monkey Lodge employees, made us feel at home. The rescue monkeys were so cool, and the rescued dogs on the property added to the atmosphere too. Our Christmas eve meal was especially delicious. I love this place and we'll definitely come back.

The trip wasn't worth it for me. Monkey Lodge is remote, with no food options nearby, and the owner was rude when we arrived. The room was basic, the shower dirty, and the pool filthy, with dogs swimming in it. There's no WiFi or phone signal, so don't expect to stay connected. You won't see monkeys unless you pay $250 for a tour. A total disappointment.
