Aranjuez Hotel & Suites

I’m staying at Hotel Aranjuez in David and wanted to share the full experience. The hotel manager and dining supervisor came to my room after I submitted my review to apologize. They brought cheesecake, brownies, and strawberries, and seemed sincerely interested in making things right. I appreciated the thoughtful response. Breakfast was much better the next morning. The dining supervisor looked after my daughter and me personally, and the whole team paid much more attention. There were more staff working, too, which made the room feel calmer and better organized. The day before, though, we were seated for breakfast well before another couple who arrived later. They seemed to be of European descent, while my daughter and I are African-American. The couple was served promptly, while we were ignored for quite a while, until I spoke up. Whatever the reason, it left us feeling unwelcome and invisible as paying guests. No family should feel that way while traveling. I think two things may have contributed: the server seemed new and overwhelmed, and may have unintentionally focused more on the other couple; the restaurant also appeared severely understaffed. I don’t believe the intention was malicious, but the impact was real. I hope management provides new staff with more training and support, and makes sure there are enough people on busy breakfast shifts. The hotel knows how many guests are staying, and better support for employees should help make service more consistent. I’ve changed my rating from 1 star to 3 stars because of the sincere apology and the much better service the following day. I appreciate the effort to address what happened and hope the improvements continue for future guests.
