Renaissance Panama City Hotel

The lounge was closed during our stay, and snacks and non-alcoholic drinks were instead set out in a room by the breakfast area. The selection was very limited, with no alcohol, which surprised us because other properties in the same group usually have more variety, including alcoholic options. We didn't use the gym, but it looked well equipped, with enough cardio machines and basic weights for a solid workout. The room was spacious, breakfast was sufficient, and the common areas were well maintained, so the property offered good value for the price. However, our room and its hallway felt dated. The carpets, lamps, furniture, and other visible parts looked worn and old, making the space seem less clean even though everything worked. Improving those visible details would make the experience better for guests and staff. We came away with a good impression, especially considering the value.

The afternoon snacks and drinks were a nice touch. The entrance and shared areas also looked very nice and made a good first impression, but the rooms fell short. They were very basic, with only one bar of soap at the sink and no other supplies. The A/C seemed defective and unhealthy, and I started coughing in the room. It felt humid and smelled noticeably of mold. Both the room and bathroom need major renovation. The pool wasn't heated and was too cold to enjoy, and breakfast was quite basic. I'm sharing this in the hope management deals with the A/C and humidity and renovates the rooms. Based on this stay, I wouldn't return.

Carolina, the bartender, is AMAZING, extremely pleasant and well worth stopping in to see, even if you're not staying at the Renaissance Panama City. The front desk staff were also very nice and helpful with service and recommendations. The hotel is strategically located, with shopping and city experiences just outside and everything within walking distance or a short Uber ride. The rooms were clean and decent, with comfortable bedding and good size, though not posh. It's a nice place for a family visit. The pool water is cold, but on a sunny day it's the best spot to cool off.

The staff made my first Panama trip even better. Carlos at the front desk sweetly helped celebrate my birthday, and David in concierge was the best at finding excursions that were just right for me. Thank you to HR for having such a great staff. I had a ball celebrating 67 years of life. Everything was perfect, a full five-star experience!
