Hostal La Cigarra

The owner and staff were friendly and knew their stuff, and the place was very clean. I was traveling with my 100-pound black Lab, a USADA-compliant service dog, and they were happy to welcome us. There’s a little sports bar downstairs; you could hear it, but the noise was tolerable. Not too bad.

The room had no window, and the bathroom window opened onto the hallway. It was noisy throughout, and the beds were small and uncomfortable. The showers and other facilities were very dirty, and the location was poor. A power cut left the room completely dark, so we couldn’t shower before leaving. They didn’t refund us for the outage.

I’ve found long hair on the floor even though I have short hair, and the room itself isn’t clean. The knob on the door is broken, there’s no hot water for showers, and the toilet won’t flush unless I reach into the tank and do it by hand. I’ve had to ask them to fix it every day; they say they have, but nothing changes. No guest should have to do that. My room is above reception and the common area, with construction right outside, so it’s loud. They told me it was the quiet room I’d requested. Two bright lights shine straight through the window, even when I wear an eye mask. There’s just one half-size drawer, so I’m living out of my suitcase in a 100-square-foot room. I asked to leave and get a refund, but they’re giving me a hard time. Staying here has been extremely stressful. Save yourself the hassle.

A good, cheap place to leave your things and get some sleep. I’m not a fan of the room having no window, but everything else was fine.
