Marinn Tropical Vibes Hotel

We left after the first night and lost the cost of the remaining four nights. When we tried to work out a partial refund, management stopped responding. I’d give this less than one star if I could. The location on the Amador causeway may sound appealing, but noise from nearby bars and especially loud vehicles made sleep almost impossible. It came right through the thin outside walls, even with earplugs. Avoid this hotel if you need sleep or expect management to handle problems well.

The rooms are spacious and okay, and the price was cheap. If all you need is somewhere to get by, it might suit you. I had a really hard time sleeping, though, and would look for somewhere quieter next time. Until midnight, and even later on weekends, the club next door made our room vibrate with bass. It’s awful if you aren’t into partying and just want to rest. The name suggests tropical vibes, but what I heard from the room was drunk locals and tourists partying, as if they were inside with us.

We arrived back around 10:30 at night hoping for a hot shower and a decent sleep. After more attempts to talk with staff and look at other rooms, we gave up, packed, and left around 11:30, exhausted and trying to find somewhere else at that hour. Our booking had been for three nights. The parking process was an incredibly inconvenient mess. The lot is shared with a busy tourist area, and whenever we drove out, reception had to stamp our ticket before we could leave the gated area. Then security outside the hotel had to issue another ticket. Security wasn’t always there, and once a ticket we got wouldn’t work at the gate, so we had to go back inside and start over. We tried hard to make the stay work, and staff did try to help, but there were too many problems. The lobby repeatedly had loud people who weren’t staying there, and they seemed drunk and on drugs. We wondered if drugs were being sold from the hotel. The atmosphere felt frightening and unsafe. I’d read reviews before booking and none mentioned what we encountered. I knew weekends could be noisy and had specifically requested a quiet room when reserving two king rooms with views months ahead. The rooms weren’t next to each other. After dinner, club music started shaking our room, and this was a Wednesday. I hadn’t realized the hotel was beside a club. The rooms and the upstairs second floor looked nothing like the photos. The advertised three-star Marinn Tropical Vibes felt dingy, dark, and musty. Though it’s supposed to be non-smoking, there were cigarette ashes in the hallway by our door and a strong cigar smell. We checked several rooms, but found none of the basics: no blankets, bathroom soap, hair dryer, or closet hangers, and no hot water. Each room was a large, bare space with an awkward bed in the middle. The walls and main entrance door were cracked, including down the middle of the door, which wouldn’t lock from inside. There were dirty fingerprint marks on the walls and door, as if they hadn’t been painted in 15 years. It’s hard to believe a hotel in such a beautiful, well-known part of Panama could be this appalling. Do yourself a favor and skip it unless you want an overpriced, shady, noisy hostel that seems fine with deceiving guests.

I spent a week here in November 2025. The room was clean and spacious, though basic, with no mini-fridge or microwave. Staff were friendly and helpful. Traffic and party noise are real, but the price is good and there are plenty of nice restaurants within 100 meters. I’d stay again.
