Villa Marina Hotel

The view from the room is stunning, the bed is fantastic, and the staff are friendly. We loved the hotel and would book again. It has its own charm, like Bali 20 years ago, simple but special. The rooms are a bit worn and the bathroom could use improvement, so anyone expecting a polished, high-class resort will be disappointed. Who wants to spend all day in the room anyway? One small tip: put a bowl of water by the terrace. With the humidity, nothing dries properly, and the water helps keep sand and dirt from getting into the room.

The room was immaculate, and the food was delicious. The front desk staff were wonderful, and the wait staff and chef were very accommodating with our vegan diet. The massage therapist has the hands of a healer. This place is paradise, beautiful and extremely well maintained, in an incredible location. I loved it so much I cried when we left. Can't wait to come back.

The views are even more beautiful in real life than they look in pictures, and the room has everything you need. The hotel is adorable, the staff are so sweet, and the food and drinks were great. The only thing missing from the room was a mini fridge, though I saw some in the lobby and they’d be suitable for future visits. Ana at the front desk went above and beyond to arrange a courier with another hotel I stayed at, and even used her own Yappy to pay for me. Thank you, Ana! Please get a massage with the wonderful Vivi. It was the best massage of my life. The one problem was the noise from playa Venao. It went on until 2 AM and shook the building. I wish the horrible bars and annoying young party scene would die out so places like Villa Marina could thrive. Villa Marina is a slice of heaven on earth, for now. Go, it’s totally worth it.

We were here to surf, and it's a short walk to the main part of town. This end of the beach is quieter for surfing, and we walked back and forth along the beach at night without any problem. Bring a flashlight to see the hermit crabs scatter. Our immaculate two-bedroom, two-bath condo had a balcony and floor-to-ceiling ocean views. There's a pool nearby with covered palapas and lounge chairs. The walk to the hotel is short if you want to eat there, and there's also a fully stocked grocery store in town where you can get food to make in the spacious kitchen. If you're after a quiet place to enjoy Playa Venao, look no further.
