Thomas and Iris look after their guests with real passion. They’re helpful, open-minded, and easy-going. The hostel itself is lovely, with very comfortable beds and good-quality materials. The dorm stays at a great temperature thanks to the wood construction and large screened windows, so there’s no need for AC. It’s a 15-minutes walk from the center. Even walking alone at night as a woman, I felt completely safe in this area. I really enjoyed my stay and highly recommend it.

Tyler welcomed me at the homestay last week and was incredibly kind. The house and garden are both lovely. I got sick during my stay, and he even cooked me a meal and picked something up for me at the supermarket. That level of hospitality really blew me away. Thanks so much, Tyler, you were a true live saver :-)

I planned on spending three days in Santa Catalina, but after an accident I ended up staying for two weeks. Two cute dogs were playing and ran me over. I was so glad to be in such a comfortable, welcoming hostel while I was there. And don’t miss Tyler’s pizza. Thanks to you all, I really miss your company. 😘 Iris and Thomas are lovely hosts, and the place feels like a big family. I tried some of Iris’s great food and drinks, including rice pudding with plátano, cinnamon, and clove, plus salad and juice. The kitchen has everything you’d have at home, and I loved the toilets and shower. Upstairs, the sleeping area is open, with mosquito nets and no AC; the ventilation is enough. Sometimes it even gets cold early in the morning, so you’ll need long clothes. I loved it. Ten points for the kitchen brush too. 🥰 There are large plantañ in front of the sleeping area, and greenery everywhere.

It felt more like staying with family than being at a hostel, which was especially nice as a solo traveller. The atmosphere was warm, I felt looked after the whole time, and the hosts were genuinely lovely and always ready to help. They really went out of their way to make me comfortable. I had a great stay at Un Mundo Hostel in Santa Catalina, would definitely recommend it, and would happily return.
