Hotel Friendly AQP

A super little hostel with a family feel. The roof terrace is great for cooking and watching films on the big outdoor TV. Big shoutout to Ever, who was so friendly and helpful. Enjoy Peaky Blinders!

The Wi-Fi worked well, the place was clean, and it’s centrally located, but the location is loud. My street-facing room was noisy day and night, so sleeping well just wasn’t possible. I could also hear reception, the doorbell, and kids screaming. The family running the place seemed pretty neutral from the start, not especially welcoming. If you stay here, you should be comfortable around kids: they’re often at reception and breakfast, and I had to listen to the same videos and games every morning. The little kitchen guests can use is also the family’s kitchen. When I wanted to cook at night, they were often making big meals, leaving little room for guests. It was also one of the only hostels in Peru where hot water wasn’t kept ready all day, as is usually the case. Those little things made it feel like family life came first, rather than guests. The rooftop looked messy and was often being used to dry clothes. Breakfast was okay, though I’d rather have a buffet than be served a cold pancake.

We liked our stay so much that we added another night. Our private double was just right, with a comfy bed, a new TV, and a hot, powerful shower. The hostel had recently been refurbished. I’d seen an earlier comment about street noise, but it wasn’t an issue for us, perhaps because the new-looking windows are double glazed. The rooftop is a nice spot to relax. It’s not a very social hostel, which suited us since we wanted to unwind and sleep well. Staff were really friendly and quick to respond. Paying for late checkout until 7pm was a big help, with our bus to Ica not leaving until 9:30pm.

The rooftop view is great, and breakfast was amazing, with some variety from day to day. We booked different tours through them and were able to leave our luggage there. Everyone working at friendly aqp was caring and super friendly, always helping with whatever we needed. The name really does fit. Can only recommend.
