The staff were AMAZING, the location is great, and the price is reasonable. It’s a pleasant little place, though pretty basic, and I was pleasantly surprised after reading the mediocre reviews. I took off a star because dogs and cats in the garden make quite a bit of noise. There are animals everywhere in Peru, but I think the hotel owns this dog and should find a way to deal with it. Nobody went out to try to sort things out.
The double room cost 80, and it was the only decent place with a double room that was open after I checked five places. There’s a hot shower, and you don’t have to carry your bike or gear upstairs.
The rooms are modest, but have what you need, and the beds are warm. The staff were really, really kind and helpful. I recommend staying here in town.

It’s the only place in town that allows pets, which makes it a unique option and, in my view, the best choice for travelers with pets. The small staff means restaurant service is limited. The garden is large and a nice place to relax, and the service is good, with friendly staff and a restaurant. The location works well for travelers. Among the few hotels in Chavín de Huántar, this is one of the best. Just keep in mind that the rooms aren’t all the same quality, so when it’s full you might end up with a less desirable one.
