The pool was great, though it didn’t stay open long. We were lucky to get one of the two rooms with air conditioning. Check-in ran late, and we had to keep asking for toilet paper. The place was okay, but I’m sure there are better options for the price. I’d still come back, thanks.

The staff were lovely, friendly, and patient with our poor Spanish. They gave us the hotel’s best room, with a balcony, and we were glad we stayed. For us, it was the best place in town. The food was good and the internet was okay. The town felt safe, though I found 25 sol a little steep for a non-alcoholic pina colada. Our taxi driver to Piura was a different story. On the day of a strike, he raised the fare and left us at a bus station that was closed, showing little concern for our safety or well-being. There may be better places to visit than Colan itself. The rubbish tip on the drive from Piura goes on and on. I’ve never seen filth like it.

Getting to Colan’s filthy beach from the hotel means a walk of at least 150m, and the area generally isn’t worth a weekend trip. The staff were friendly, the food was decent, and the pool was good. Rooms felt cramped with beds and shut in.
