For just $13 a night, I had a private room with a bathroom, a big, well-equipped room and wonderful staff who helped with everything. Laundry costs 5 soles, and breakfast is okay. If you’re traveling on a tight budget, this is a good place to stay.

We met the owner in the morning, and an hour later we were already at his hostel. It’s in a great spot, with a lovely room, and the hostel service was great. He also booked us a Macchu Pichu tour for that same day. His little son Gianpiero was so sweet. Breakfast was good, and the evening shower was nice and warm. The only downside was the room temperature overnight. It was quite cold, too cold to be comfortable.

It has a very hippy feel, with a useful kitchen and a nice patio, but I wouldn’t stay again. People were cooking on a camp stove in the dorm at one in the morning, with the lights on and mattresses being moved between beds. There were babies sleeping in the dorms too. The mattress itself was comfortable and the location was good, but don’t come expecting a good night’s sleep.

The price and location were good, and it was actually very good value for money. I gave it a low rating because my room was right beside reception and quite noisy, and there was no hot water.

We had a booking.com reservation, but no one was there to let us in or answer the door. We had to scramble to find another hotel.
