The spectacular view and all the plants made staying at Casa Mirador Guesthouse a pleasure. I chose it in 2025 because it's up the mountain from Cusco, and I'm so glad I did. It's not on a street, so Carlos, the proprietor, met my taxi, showed the driver where I could walk from, then carried my suitcase and guided me to the Guesthouse. He's strong, and I still feel embarrassed and humbled that he had to do so much. He speaks excellent English and was patient with my not-so-good Spanish. From our first meeting, he was friendly and helpful, and several times he gave me accurate, much-needed directions for places I visited. When I left, he carried my bag back up to the taxi. Carlos, the Guesthouse, and Cusco made this one of the best parts of my trip. My only regret was not being able to stay longer. I want to go back!

That orange Cusco cityscape from the lobby is stunning, especially at night, and the views are almost unreal. It's popular for good reason. You do have to climb a hill, but that's where the incredible view comes from. My private room with its own shower and toilet was 64 S/. a night, about 2,980 yen, which was amazing value. The room was comfortable, there's a kitchen, and they provide coca tea for altitude sickness. The staff were so kind and helpful. They arranged airport pickup for just $10, recommended a great nearby pizza place, and kept my luggage while I visited Machu Picchu. Truly a wonderful place to stay! I'll feature it on YouTube and Instagram, so check it out!

The view is beautiful, but it was the only good part of our stay at Casa Mirador Guesthouse. We planned four nights in Cusco and left after the first because the house felt unclean, cluttered, and poorly maintained, below even basic hygiene standards. The kitchen was advertised as fully equipped, but we didn't feel comfortable using it. The terrace was similarly uninviting. Our concerns got little understanding from the host, who even asked us to pay for another night after we left early because of the conditions. We felt very uncomfortable, and for the price there are much cleaner and better hotel options in Cusco. I wouldn't recommend it, especially to couples.

The owner was fantastic, stayed in touch throughout our time, checked whether we needed anything for the rooms, and was always available with advice about Cuzco. We spent 9 days at Casa Mirador and never got tired of the view from our balcony. It must be one of the best city views. It was fun watching people take photos at the viewpoint while we had an even better one a little farther up the hill. Getting back after a big meal does take some fitness, though I'm pretty unfit, so that's probably a "Me" problem 😅. I'd absolutely stay here again!

The host was truly nice, and the room was clean, with a comfortable bed and amazing views. It can get a bit cold at night, but there are plenty of blankets. That's how it is in most Cusco hotels anyway 😁
