Hotel Rumis Inn

For such reasonable prices, this boutique hotel has everything you need and is one of the best deals in Cusco. It's centrally located, so getting around costs no more than 10 to 20 soles by taxi. The staff are sweet and courteous.

There was no water and no WiFi service.

A completely awful stay, with no basic service and staff who seemed unwilling to take responsibility. They offered to move me to another room to fix things, but never followed through, and the staff weren't friendly or attentive. They were defensive and unprofessional. I'd specifically asked for the room to be cleaned, but it wasn't. They left neither toilet paper nor soap. The receptionist said I hadn't asked her directly, even though she was at reception when I made the request. Then she claimed she'd knocked on my door and got no answer, and excused it by saying she was "just changing staff," without showing real interest in sorting it out. They rudely threw the soap at me and refused to give me the complaints book. I had to call the owner directly from my cell phone before they finally agreed to provide it. I don't recommend this hotel.

We were there for three days, and it's almost impossible to shower properly because the hot and cold taps don't regulate well. The remote they gave us couldn't change the TV channel, either. There was also a piece of chewing gum on the bed, apparently left by another guest. A few hours after leaving the hostel, I developed conjunctivitis in the eye I'd rested on their pillows. Be careful.
