The bathroom had a foul smell, which got worse when the fan was running. The walls were so thin that we could hear footsteps and voices from above and below. The room was cold and poorly insulated, with only a space heater. The shower never got hot, even after we let it run for a while, and a few people in our group went more than three days without a hot shower. After a 12+ hour tour day at Machu Picchu, we returned to find there was no water for the shower at all, and the staff on duty said they couldn’t do anything. One of my worst recent hotel experiences. Choose somewhere else.

The hotel was very quiet, though we went out of season. Staff were attentive and packed breakfast for the mornings when we had to leave early. Coca tea was available 24 hours. The front rooms could use thicker curtains to block more light, and you can sometimes hear other guests leaving early since the rooms aren’t soundproof. It’s perfectly placed for exploring Cusco, easy to reach by taxi from the airport, and surrounded by nice restaurants.

The staff were great about helping us with anything we needed, even several days after checkout. The rooms were good for the price, and the breakfast each morning was a nice touch. It’s a totally safe 10 or 15 minute walk from the plaza. When I’m back in Cusco, I’ll make a point of staying at the Warari.

For the price, I was quite satisfied. The hotel is dark and cold, but there are electric heaters in the rooms. The bed was very comfortable, and I had no trouble with the shower or WiFi.

The service was great, and it’s an excellent place to stay. My only issue was the bathroom drain, which gave off a really bad smell even though the bathroom itself was clean. I hope they can fix it.
