Ciudad Del Sol Hostel

I stayed here a month and a half ago and everything was great. This time, on Matías Manzanilla Avenue in Ica, it was terrible. I'd paid 100 soles in advance for a double room, but when I arrived just before 6 pm there was no electricity. It came back about half an hour later, but then the only water was hot, so showering in 30°C heat was impossible. There was no Wi-Fi, and I had to use my phone's connection for the Smart TV. The room also came with just one towel and one bar of soap. I left for work at 8 am after agreeing to stay, but when I got back at 5 pm, the room hadn't been touched. For that price... damn.

In February 2026, my double room cost 100 soles, which seemed fair for the location and facilities. The hotel is very central, just a few blocks from the Pan-American Highway and Plaza de Armas. There is a garage, but space is tight. One day another guest had to be woken up to move their car because it was blocking mine.

Getting a response online takes ages, and WhatsApp is worse. You can message and only hear back an hour later, if you keep trying. When problems come up, they won't connect you with a manager or anyone trained to sort things out. They advertise "PROMOTIONS" on social media, but at the hotel staff say the offers have ended and weren't updated, or claim there are no rooms available. They blame marketing for not updating the promotions or prices. A room by the hour costs 70 soles, while a whole night is 80 soles. The staff seem lost and don't know how to resolve issues.

My room was so hot that I couldn't sleep well, even with the fan, which wasn't enough. The hostel itself had a clean room and bathroom. I hope they find a way to cool the rooms that don't have a window facing the street.
