Wild Olive Guest House

We booked a family room through Peru hop, but the stale smell wasn't my main concern. The window didn't seem usable as an emergency exit: it was barred, too high to reach, and had no handle we could use to open it. The front desk man was kind and called a couple of hotels for me, but because the booking was through Peru hop, they said they couldn't refund us directly. It was disappointing to spend my birthday dinner at 9 pm trying to find another place to stay with an 8-year-old.

We only stayed one night. The front desk staff were very friendly, and the place was clean. WiFi worked, though it wasn't very fast, and the kitchen was pretty poor. The main hassle was the shower, the hot water was barely trickling out, so it took ages to wash up at the end of the night.

The staff were absolutely wonderful, and the place was comfortable and really clean, one of the best hostels I've stayed in. It can get a bit hot since there's no AC, but if that doesn't bother you, it's a great spot.

It was fine, though the room got a little warm with just one ceiling fan. My shower only got kind of warm, and breakfast was underwhelming, just the usual egg and bread.
