We were in the newer rooms, which were spacious, bright, stylish, and very clean. The older rooms in the building next door didn’t look nice. It’s quiet, with a grassy yard, and close to nature spots, though far from everything else. There was no hot water when it wasn’t sunny, at least during our stay, and they couldn’t cook for us. For the price, one of the best places we saw in Peru: we bargained from 88 soles with breakfast to 60 soles without.

The place is still quiet and out of the way, but close to the Pomac Bosque and Túcume. There isn’t much to see at the nearby huaca it’s named after. The Ecolodge was funded by an ONG and can be rented by visitor groups; the neighboring family takes care of it, and it’s quite nice. In December 2018 it was still there, with few visitors, and I couldn’t figure out where to book a room. A new building looked private, which seemed odd. By April 2019, it made sense: there was a new house and swimming pool for guests, and the owner offered good provisions, advice, and services. I hoped the project would do well. In November 2020, the pandemic had driven visitors away, including from the POMAC reserve. It’s picking up again now. Dante Diaz is doing a good job, and most bookings are through agencies in Chiclayo, possibly as part of a tour.

Pretty nice.

It’s a calm, pleasant spot to get away from the city and unwind, especially if you like nature. You can reach several attractions from here, including the dry forest, the Laquipampa nature reserve, and beekeeping businesses like "Abiel." We toured their facilities and tasted honey right from the hive.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The service was awful, and even though I’d paid ahead, they treated us as if we were begging for a room. There’s no drinking water, no water in the showers, and the food they serve is terrible. They don’t allow dogs, and all they do is mistreat customers.
