The day tour I ended up taking with Tucan Jungle was good, with tours in Spanish and English, and I can recommend them. The agency where I booked, though, caused a lot of trouble. They charged more than competitors for similar tours and a high fee for card payments. They’d promised a maximum group of 6-7 people and gave me a start time. I arrived when agreed, but no one else was there. I was told they’d be there in a minute, which became about 30 minutes. Then they said a bus would pick me up at the corner. It finally came with a group of about thirty people, on a tour run by a completely different company. The travel agency had apparently put me on some random tour. After lunch, that tour’s guide told me the guy I’d booked the day trip with hadn’t paid them, and he couldn’t take me any further until he did. We were about 20km downstream from Iquitos, so I was facing chartering a boat back on my own. After negotiating, I paid the guide extra so we could finish together and return to Iquitos as a group. I was told to demand that money back from the booking guy afterward. One of the guides came with me straight to the office after the tour to ask for the extra money back. The guy made it difficult again. I gave him five minutes before I’d call the police, and then he handed over the money relatively quickly. I’m very well travelled, but even I run into rubbish like this. Avoid this agency and save yourself the hassle. I write reviews to warn people about scum and scammers. Be careful!

I took a three-day adventure through the Amazon rainforest. It was unforgettable, and I’d highly recommend it if you want to visit the jungle from Iquitos.

I spent a week touring, walking, and swimming in this amazing place. It was a magical, authentic jungle experience.

STAY AWAY. Nilton, the owner or staff member, is a scam and very rude. We agreed on a price, then he raised it at the last minute. When I asked why over WhatsApp without being rude, his attitude changed completely and he was extremely disrespectful. He claimed to be the “teacher” for an ayahuasca ceremony, but I seriously doubt that behavior is appropriate for a shaman. The hotel where I was staying also told me this agency doesn’t have a good reputation among locals.
