El Faro Inn

The best thing here is the setting. The hotel is a few steps from the winding parks along the edge of Miraflores, above the ocean, and close to the park with El Faro. The area has a modern but quaint small-city feel, with tall condominiums, apartment buildings, and traditional upper-middle-class homes. The hotel itself is clean, but dated, and expensive compared with Lima hotels and AirBnB. You’re paying a premium for the location rather than upgraded amenities. There’s no air conditioning, just a standing fan and windows that open. The wall-mounted TV is very small for this price range. Bathrooms are clean but not luxurious, and if you choose a jacuzzi tub, it may not work, leaving you with a large bathtub. The place seems to present itself alongside the big four-star hotels, but has a long way to go. The staff are young and follow management’s rules, which may not suit guests used to a more worldly or service-focused experience. If location is your priority and you’re willing to pay extra while overlooking the missing luxuries, it could suit you. But if you want location, panoramic views, and world-class lodging and amenities together, you’ll probably feel shortchanged. It comes down to your travel priorities.
