Golden Mar Hotel

Breakfast was pretty good and everything else seemed fine until checkout, when we were accused of smoking in the room or on the balcony. We always went outside the hotel, kept the cigarette butts instead of tossing them on the ground, then put them in the garbage. The male cleaner took those butts out and placed them on the table as supposed proof. It felt like he was lying so they could charge us extra. If you're a foreigner, be careful staying here. It's too bad this happened, because I would've given the place a much higher review.

We stayed for 7 days and were ready to give the place 3 stars, until checkout. The male cleaner said he'd found several cigarette butts on the balcony and they tried to charge us for smoking there, although we'd smoked out front and put the butts in the garbage. I had to ask the security guard to confirm he'd seen us go outside several times. It seemed the cleaner had taken the butts from our bathroom garbage and claimed they came from the balcony. Stay away. They seem to be trying to charge foreigners extra at checkout, and other reviews give the impression this may be happening to others too.

They were able to correct my booking after I chose the wrong dates, without charging me extra. I also got an ocean view. The road is right beside the hotel, though, and the windows don't block sound, so horns kept coming through all night, about every 3 minutes. Bring earplugs, or something stronger. The shower worked well, but the towels seemed unclean and there weren't enough. Sometimes the toilet wouldn't flush.

The restaurant has an amazing view, and the room itself looked nice. But the bed felt too small for two. We stayed 4 nights and got no housekeeping at all, so the towels and sheets weren't changed, and they didn't even bring toilet paper. Breakfast was simple and the same each morning.
