The rooms were roomy and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and knew the area well. You're right in downtown Lima, just a block from the main square, with several artisan shops nearby for souvenir shopping. One thing to know: the lobby is up one flight of stairs.

The neighborhood felt very safe, and everyone on staff was nice and reliable. I stayed for a week, with the hotel making a great base for seeing Lima's historic center. Santa Rosa is on Jirón Camará, right beside one end of Plaza del Arma, almost visible from the hotel/hostel. There's a cafeteria where they serve breakfast, plus a terrace.

The staff were really nice, and breakfast was okay. Our first room was a double with a private bathroom, but the toilet smell and lack of a proper outside window made it impossible to sleep. The only window was a little one above the door, and it didn't help much. We paid extra to move to a four-person private room with windows and a much better bathroom. The owners should update the bathrooms in the other rooms or they could lose a lot of customers. Travellers should ask whether their room has a window opening to the outside, not an interior one.

We were close to Plaza de Armas and the historic center, yet our room was quiet. The rooms are pretty small and rusty. Breakfast came with the price and was simple, just eggs, tea, and some bread.
