Hostal Pukara

The people working here were very friendly and nice, spoke a little English, and were available at all hours. The locked gates and iron bars made the place seem pretty safe from the outside, but there were problems once inside. There were seven of us in my room and only one key. When we went out, it was left in a basket at the front desk, so anyone could take it and enter. Cleanliness was awful. The bathroom was very dirty when we arrived, the floor was never swept, and I don’t think the towels were changed or the sheets washed while we were there. I found bedbugs in one bed and cockroaches in the bathroom on day two. Hot water was scarce too. At night, the front gate was locked with a key, so to get in or out we had to ring the bell and wake a manager to come unlock it. The walls were really thin. People upstairs could hear me talking softly at the gate, and the bell carried through the hostel. It’s a small, cute place, but there were a lot of issues.

Good value, a good breakfast and Wi-Fi, a great location, and friendly staff. The place could use some renovation, but otherwise the team did a great job!

Nice people and a good location. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was great, with a regular water heater instead of one of those electric ones.

The rooms are a little pricey too.
