Hotel El Dorado inn San Isidro

Brutal.

For 200 soles, there are better nearby options. The service and amenities don’t justify the price. At 1 a.m., they woke my partner and me just to check whether I’d paid, because the reception staff hadn’t effectively shared that information. We wouldn’t come back.

The place has a strangely mystical feel, and the beautiful hallways and antique decor almost transport you. Our room was clean, nicely arranged, and the TV and fan worked well. They even gave us glasses and lent us a corkscrew without charging corkage for some reason. But we booked for 24 hours after 50% of the payment had been canceled, and still waited an hour and a half. They gave us two individual beers as thanks for the wait. The room’s closet wouldn’t stay closed, and when we opened it, the door flew off and scratched my boyfriend. At 12:30 a.m., they knocked to say our six hours were up, even though we’d paid for 24. The bed was very hard, in my opinion.

You can book this place for four hours or for a full day. It’s discreet and comfortable, and the only thing I noticed was peeling paint on the bathtub in one room. Otherwise, it’s very nice.
