Jose Antonio Deluxe

I wanted a reliable taxi from the airport and was quoted $70. Since we were in PERU, I assumed that meant SOLES. They then tried to charge me $70 DOLLLARS for a 15-minute ride. When I raised it with the hotel, they said that was how it worked and offered neither compensation nor an apology. WHY WOULD I PAY USD IN PERU?! I speak Spanish fluently and managed to argue my way out of it, but many people might not be so lucky. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTELLL!!!!! They are full of scammers. DO NOT GET SCAMMED!!!!!!!!!! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

Of the three Jose Antonio hotels, this deluxe one is the newest, nicest, and cleanest. The room heating actually works. Breakfast is my only complaint: the selection isn’t any better or bigger than at the other two. Maybe they could add soup or congee?

The room was otherwise nice, but being in it was really unpleasant because it was so hot and muggy. It was 80 degrees Fahrenheit (26-27 Celsius), and we were told there’s no AC anywhere in the hotel. They brought us a fan, but it only moved the hot air around. It was significantly cooler outside.

On Friday, the terrace still had no water in the pool and no sun beds. The manager said an event meant I couldn’t use the area. I asked if two loungers could be brought to a quiet part of the terrace so we could catch the last bit of sun, but got no help. They just pointed us to the sofas. The manager never even apologized. This started when I arrived Wednesday. The receptionist said the pool was being maintained, but told me it would be open to guests again the next day. Nobody honestly told me what was going on. If I’d known, I could have asked to move to another hotel in the chain. My final day in Perù was ruined by the hotel, its manager, and the team. I’ve never had such disgusting service. Liars and thieves! This is no way to treat guests at a hotel in this category, right in the centre of Miraflores. Thank you very much!
