La Castellana

I really enjoyed my stay. The desk clerks were extremely helpful and knew their stuff. It’s a lovely hotel with a beautiful courtyard. Just be aware there was no heat, though they did give us extra blankets.

No AC, so the place can feel musty. It’s a small, quaint hotel with nice people and good value. Free WiFi is available, though you have to be near the desk, and there are 110 plug-ins. Breakfast was very good and huge: eggs made to order, great bread, fresh melon, juice, and yogurt. Even my teenage son got more than he could eat.

The neighborhood felt very safe, with private security all over Miraflores. There were mostly backpackers of different ages, and free WiFi. The included continental breakfast had bread, jam, juice, and tea or coffee, with extra items available cheaply. The rooms were clean but a bit dated. Reception staff were helpful. The beds were firm, and the showers got hot, though the water pressure was very low.

The first floor had a terrible damp smell, while the second floor was much better. The neighborhood was safe, the WiFi was good, and the location was good too. The shower had hot water and great pressure. The staff weren’t especially friendly, and they wouldn’t even let us have coffee before the official breakfast time. If you’re traveling with a group, they know how things work.
