Alma Loft

We loved the relaxing setting, the wonderful service, and the great breakfast every day. Our room also had a beautiful deck where we could lounge, and the pool, though small, was nice to have. The main drawback was noise from the restaurant above us. In the morning and evening, we could hear tables and chairs being moved. It’s also a long way from Mancora, so you need a ride. We walked one evening and it got dark quickly, with no sidewalks, so we had to be careful. I wouldn’t suggest walking unless you’re adventurous. There’s no refrigerator or microwave in the room, and the restaurant is a bit pricey, even though the food is delicious. Without going into town or walking at least 15 minutes to cheaper options, it can feel like you’re stuck. I’d recommend it for couples looking to get away and relax.

We had a great week at Alma. The staff were friendly and always available, and Iris made all the practical details of our stay easy. They also offer some fun activities, including paddling with giant turtles and Pisco Sour classes. Thanks, Daniel! The views were beautiful throughout the hotel, from the rooms to the pool. We tried other places in Mancora during the week, but Alma Bistro was one of our favorites. We’d gladly recommend Alma to friends and family.

The beach right in front was lovely, with very few stones in the water, and the staff were nice throughout our stay. We had decent food, especially the 10/10 breakfast. Since it was whale season, July to October, we even watched whales from our balcony. We stayed in suite 1, which was spacious, looked just like the picture, and had an awesome view. The bathroom sink tap was a little loose, and a cup for toothbrushes would have been useful. Otherwise, it was a great room. Mancora center takes a bumpy 15-20 minute ride to reach, so keep that in mind if you want to be close to town. I can definitely recommend the place.

The staff were friendly, but Casa Alma, the house at Alma Loft hotel, felt like a very basic, low-budget backpacker place being presented and priced as a luxurious high-end hotel. We paid US7k for a week. The website looks beautiful, but the actual place was very different and the pricing felt like a ripoff. It’s old and needs significant maintenance. The furniture isn’t decent, the shower drains don’t work, there are no curtains, the wifi is bad, and there are sewerage smells. The pool looks about 10cm deep. If it had been presented and priced as the basic location it is, there wouldn’t be an issue.
