La Casa de Jessy

The showers were cool but refreshing, and the fan and mini-fridge in the room were just right for the heat. The room and bathroom were very clean, and the kitchen was well equipped. This is a lovely, relaxing hostel right by the beach, far enough from the party hostels to avoid their nighttime noise. Jessy was a lovely host and took extra care after noticing my partner had been devoured by mozzies. She put extra mosquito coils in our room every night. Very cute dogs, and good wifi even though Mancora gets power cuts. Thanks, Jessy :)

We’d just arrived from a night bus and wanted to check in early, and the friendly staff helped us out. The place was really clean, and the basic rooms had what we needed, including a fridge. The garden was lovely, the dogs were cute, and it’s well located near the beach.

Jessica is a spectacular host. The place feels homey and peaceful, with room to meet and chat with other travelers each day while still having a yard and some privacy. Town is an easy 5 minute walk, and the beach is just 1 block away. A wonderful spot to relax.

The staff and owner, just two people, were both really friendly. They even made breakfast for me after I slept in past the 10am breakfast hours. The rooms are separate like a hotel, but there’s also a shared kitchen and patio hangout like a hostel. For me, that mix didn’t create much atmosphere, so meeting other travelers seemed unlikely. The wifi was horribly slow during my stay, though the owner was just as frustrated and it seemed to be an issue with the internet company in Piura. It’s close to the beach, but also close to a bar, so music carried on all night. I’d recommend it if you’re on a budget, traveling as a couple, and don’t mind sleeping with music in the background.
