The price isn't high, and breakfast, though very local, is included. The rooms are basic and the cleaning could be more thorough. It works more like a guesthouse, with no receptionist around the clock and people usually working behind closed doors. The person in charge is an older woman, but she's friendly and attentive. For just a night, it's not bad. It can get noisy after dark because dogs bark at every sound on the street.

The continental breakfast was the one bright spot. The linens were poor, the rooms very small, and the bathroom cramped. Noise came through because the windows were close to the source, and on the last day there was no hot water. There's no parking.

The service was truly wonderful, and this is one of the better places to stay in Moquegua. Still, the rooms are small and dim, and I wasn't happy with either the cleanliness or the bed's comfort. Even so, I'd stay here again if I came back to Moquegua.

Residencial Moquegua helped make the city memorable for me. I had planned to spend just one night in Moquegua before setting off on a wild overland trip to Montevideo, but I fell for the city and stayed three nights. The owner is so kind that you really feel at home, and the breakfast is delicious. With the door ajar, the quiet is a welcome break, though now and then you might hear a street vendor calling or the church bells. The church is only three blocks away. I've been back since.
