Hotel Puerto del Sol

DON'T stay here. We arrived late in the afternoon, and after repeating the same room routine three times, we were too exhausted to keep complaining, so we spent the night in rather unclean beds. The place looked half built, with big unfinished rooms and suites and jacuzzi style tubs that seemed bizarre to me for Peru. One bedroom door was locked, and the key wouldn't open it. The front desk had no key either, so a staff member climbed over the balcony and opened the door from inside. Later, the toilet wouldn't flush and the sinks had no water for handwashing. The very young front desk staff acted truly shocked and moved us to a top floor room with a spectacular view. But bare bulbs and unfinished masonry made it look like construction was still underway. When we used the deep jetted tub to wash our sandy feet, a few litres of dark brown water came out, leaving sand and grit in the tub before the water stopped. The desk staff were shocked again and moved us to another room, where the same thing happened. We went through this three times. At least the internet worked, so we checked earlier reviews and found dozens reporting the same water shortage for ages. I have no idea how a hotel without water gets a "3.8" rating, but read the bad reviews and trust them.
