Hostal Calderon

0 reliable. I left my cell phone in the room and called to check, but the hotel said nothing had been left behind. The phone was turned off.

I only chose this hostel because it was close to the Plaza de Armas. I was coming from Chincha and leaving early the next morning for Paracas. I read good reviews from earlier years, when it was on the 2nd block of Jiron Callao, but my stay on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at its current address, Jiron Callao 172, 2nd floor, was the worst. They put me on the 3rd floor and charged 50 soles for one night in a tiny, dirty room, including dirty bedding. There was no water pressure in the sink or shower, and the small LED TV was off to the side of the bed, partly blocked by the curtain. They only take Plin, no credit or debit cards. The hostel rooms were mostly occupied by noisy, disruptive foreigners from Venezuela, who kept me from sleeping. I absolutely don't recommend this hostel. Also, if you're traveling to Paracas, I don't recommend visiting Pisco.

The owner runs a clean, orderly place with hot water, Wi-Fi and good bed linens. Its central location makes it quite noisy, though, and the bathroom water pressure is poor.

You can get rooms with as many as four beds, which works well for a group of friends. The prices aren't very affordable, but service is good and there's hot water.
