We spent three weeks here and loved it. Our cabin had the best river view among the cabins, plus an attached kitchen where we could make simple meals. The meals we tried from their kitchen were all tasty, especially the local pacu fish, fried until crispy. There was plenty of wildlife right on the property: monkeys, a sloth, capybara, agouti, parrots, and an armadillo. Jaime and his family were so helpful and nice, and Claudio was always friendly and smiling. Jaime lent us rainboots, which came in handy at the start of the rainy season. The room and deck were cleaned daily, and sheets and towels were replaced every 3-4 days. Jaime helped arrange tours. We especially recommend Lake Yacumama at both sunrise and sunset with a private guide. He even invited us along on a family trip to the local market. He's flexible and always ready to help. There are lots of very friendly dogs on the property. As a dog lover, I bought food in town and fed the three female dogs from next door every day. Don Jaime's hostel gave us a real Peruvian Amazon experience, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for an adventurous, authentic stay.

We ended up at Jamie's hostel by chance after our first booking got canceled, and what a nice surprise. Sitting beneath the trees with a book and looking out at the wide Tambopata River was so peaceful. The lodge is right across from the river. It's outside the town center, but Jamie can help with what you need. He knows taxi drivers and tour agencies and can arrange transport and excursions. We booked two tours through him, and both went well. Jamie's family cooked nearly all the meals we ate at the lodge, and the food suited us perfectly. There are several dogs around who love playing together and are happy to be petted. If you're after a quiet nature stay, I'd recommend Jamie's hostel. Just remember mosquito repellent!

Jaime was such a kind host and made our stay a pleasure. He organized our meals, excursions, cab rides, and more, and introduced us to some of his family. If monkeys or sloths were around the hostel, he'd come get us so we could see them. Don Jaime's place is a great deal for a jungle stay, and I'd highly recommend it.

The area is full of mango trees, and you can pick the fruit. Jaime is wonderful and kept checking that everything was all right. A great place to stay in the jungle.

Jaime and Rolan are great hosts and genuinely good people. Don Jaime is well worth a stay. The rooms are good for the price, and the restaurant serves inexpensive, healthy home-style meals. You might even spot monkeys while eating breakfast or relaxing in a hammock. Awesome jungle accommodation.
