We arrived at 1am in the cold after our bus to Puno was delayed, and since we hadn’t booked a room, we were worried we wouldn’t find anywhere to stay. Our taxi driver knew this place, and luckily they had a room available. The woman who greeted us was incredibly kind, even though we’d woken her up. She made us tea and warmed a cake because we were starving. The room was lovely too, with thick wool blankets that came in handy in winter, and hot water was no problem for us. It’s in the city center, a short walk from the cathedral and placa de armas. They can also help arrange trips to the islands. Really recommend it!

You can get to the main square in about five minutes by motorbike. The rooms are comfortable, though there’s no heating, so bring a coat. The rates felt a little high for this location, but I thought the comfort made up for it.

The breakfast was okay, and so was the rest of the stay, but getting hot water can be a problem. Unless you ask reception to switch on the hot water tank, the shower runs cold. During the middle of winter they provide an electric heater, but you only find out at checkout that it costs $15.

We left our backpacks here for two days while we went to the islands on Lake Titicaca. The owners are friendly, and the hostel is clean and really comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, and the center is just a five-minute walk away. I’d happily come back.

The rooms at Hostal Sariri were spotless, with hot water and Wi-Fi. It’s a guesthouse in a quiet, safe area, and Mrs. Jessica was very kind. We highly recommend Hostal Sariri.
