The area around the hotel is beautiful, and being near both the lake and the supermarket was really convenient. Santa maria also offers its own tours of the lake and Puno, and they’re very cheap, my friends. The staff were so hospitable. I’m from the south, and we know hospitality. The lobby is nice too, and I’d suggest having a good drink there to get a feel for the family atmosphere. Don’t be put off by the hot water taking a while. Give it time, and if it’s still not hot after five minutes, ask someone in the lobby. It’s gas heated, and I assume the pilot light sometimes goes out. You can’t expect american service.

The beds were clean, the price was good, and there really was hot water around the clock. The place is a bit run down, though. It’s near Plaza Vea, with a lot of street noise, and the train passes around 5:30 p.m.

The staff were very friendly, but traffic made the okay location really noisy. I’d rate the stay 2.5. We stayed twice and had different rooms. The first was clean and fine, with hot water, though the pressure was low. The second room was spacious, but smelled awful, like stale cigarette smoke, and had no hot water. Breakfast was very poor.
