Bora - Tahaana Hoe Pool

We found Mareta Lodge to be good value and would happily return. It’s a small motel-style setup of around ten modern, nicely designed rooms, with convenient parking right in front. Our room was new, very clean, and roomy enough to unpack and feel at home. It had its own washing machine and a small kitchen with a microwave, which made a longer stay comfortable. We also liked the covered outdoor seating area overlooking the garden. A shop is about a minute away on foot, and Matira Beach, lovely at sunset, is around a ten-minute walk. You can get to things easily, though a small car or bike is useful for exploring more of the island. For a Bora Bora trip, we’d suggest splitting the stay: try two nights at a luxury resort such as The Westin Bora Bora Resort & Spa for the overwater bungalow and airport pickup, then spend several days at Mareta Lodge. You get postcard views and luxury, followed by a relaxed stay on the main island with a taste of everyday local life.

We spent a week at Mareta Lodge and really liked the location. It’s beside a local convenience store, about a ten-minute walk from Matira beach, and close to restaurants. The covered alfresco area, with a table and chairs facing a tropical garden, was lovely. The unit feels new and modern inside, which suited us more than the traditional wooden look at many expensive resorts. The bed and AC were comfortable, there’s loads of storage, and my wife was able to unpack everything. Free wifi, flexible check-in and checkout, and well-sealed doors helped keep out insects and heat. The kitchen has an induction cooktop, microwave/convection oven, rice cooker, and kettle. A toaster and hair dryer were the only things we missed. We’d definitely recommend staying here.

Mareta Lodge was a great place for our stay. The apartment was comfortable and well placed, with Matira Beach and a large grocery store just a short walk away. A very good option in Bora Bora.

For Bora Bora, the value here is great. The place is newly built or renovated and in a good neighborhood, near hotels with beaches, a supermarket, restaurants, and activities. The air conditioning worked well, the shower had hot water and good pressure, and the bed was comfortable. There’s a well-stocked kitchen with a fridge and stove, plus a washing machine. A hair dryer would have been useful, but otherwise we had everything we needed. Maitai hotel is only a few minutes away on foot, so you can go there for food and enjoy the sea breeze and view.
