A lovely stay in Nuku Hiva, with wonderful food and a great family. I’d definitely recommend it.

The view over the valley is sublime, with beautiful sunsets and a sky full of stars at night. It’s very quiet here, but only a two-minute drive from the town center. The guesthouse is simple and very clean, and hot water is available if you ask. Claudine was a huge help arranging an unforgettable stay, and Terre de Hommes is a great choice if you want an authentic experience in lovely company. The first day of the tour lets you see a lot even if your flight arrives late in the morning. Claudine and her daughter Cécile made us feel so welcome. She shared so much about life in the Marquesas Islands and is a wonderful cook, especially the homemade banana jam 😍. We loved spending time with you both and hope to come back someday. Bring earplugs for the mornings: like everywhere in Polynesia, there are roosters, and we loved them! Laura

The guesthouse has a stunning outlook over Mount Taiohae and its bay. Claudine and Alvane welcomed us so warmly, and the room was comfortable, with a fan and private bathroom. Book here if you’d like to stay with a Marquesan family and enjoy delicious dinners cooked at home. Alvane can also set up trips to Taipivai, Hatiheu, and Anaho, with their magnificent, unique scenery.

The main downside was Alexia. She was meant to help out and could be unpleasant when we asked for anything while the owners were away. The guesthouse also needs a few finishing touches for comfort, like doors that shut properly. Still, Claudine, Alvane, and their daughter are lovely, and we were welcomed with so much kindness. The wild boar dance was superb. A big thank you for our stay 🙏
