The sleeping setup is basic, though I was quite comfortable during my stay of a little over a week a few years ago, during the Billabong Pro Teahupoo. Theirry and the crew keep the place beautiful. It's outside the city, but still close enough to bus or drive in. Tropical fruit all around the lodge is laid out for guests each day. There's a shore break across the street with friendly locals, plus a grocery store and a few restaurants within walking distance. Remember to recycle your Hinano bottles to get the deposit back.

The island roosters get going early, so if you sleep lightly, bring earplugs. The rooms upstairs are cozy, with a big lounge and kitchen downstairs. It's a simple, accommodating place with friendly people, an easy walk to the shoreline, and plenty of outdoor showers and toilets.
