Holiday Inn & Suites Port Moresby

We went there for drinks with friends, and it made for a really fun, relaxed day out 😊. The hotel had a great atmosphere, the surroundings were quiet, and the staff were quick and friendly.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, with a safe, iron and ironing board in the room, plus basic toiletries in the bathroom. Beds were comfortable, too. It feels like a typical Holiday Inn, though a little dated, and the carpet felt a bit unsettling to me in such a humid climate. After living in Asia for several years, I prefer hard floors for cleanliness. There are blackout curtains, a small desk and somewhere to sit besides the bed. The Wi-Fi was generally good, though audio or video calls occasionally dropped. I couldn't get the TV service working, so bring your own entertainment. This is the newer of the two Holiday Inn properties directly across from each other, and some photos show the other one. Check-in was easy with a reservation in advance. Early or late check-in requests can be accommodated depending on availability. IHG status was recognized, amenity points were given, and upgrades depended on availability as usual. Guests get the breakfast buffet included, or others can pay roughly $15 USD. It has eggs, toast, sausage or bacon, hash browns, tea, coffee, juice, fresh fruit and yoghurt. Weekends get busy, and sometimes they struggle to keep plates, cups, cutlery and food items stocked. Quality ranged from acceptable to a bit sketchy. Specialty coffees and a small selection of baked sweets and/or sandwiches cost extra. Room service can be ordered from the in-house restaurant at the Holiday Inn & Suites across the way. If you know Holiday Inn elsewhere, you'll feel comfortable here. It's clean and comfortable, without extravagance.

The location is very central, and the hotel's hospitality does a good job of meeting customers' needs. The rooms are impressive for the amount you pay.

Holiday Inn Express in Port Moresby is one of the few hotel accommodations in PNG available at a cheap price. From my own experience, the service there is on another level, and I'd call the hotel world class. For tourists coming to PNG looking for somewhere to stay, I think Holiday Inn is quite okay.
