I first came to Tufi Resort in 2006 and returned in January 2026. It was just as wonderful this time. Getting here by air or water is part of what has kept the nearby village life and nature so little changed over the years. The resort still gives you a sensible amount of modern comfort, though. There’s superb snorkeling and diving among the many beautiful reefs, with abundant sea life, and the excursion prices are very reasonable. The staff are friendly and accommodating. I didn’t even feel I needed to lock my room. A unique trip, absolutely worth making.

The food, especially the seafood, was delicious, and we had memorable interactions with local people. This peaceful resort is full of nature, with comfortable bungalows and really friendly staff. It sits high above the dramatic PNG fjords, with wide open views of the sea. Diving is superb, and the cultural experiences made the stay even richer. A beautiful, remote boutique escape.

The views down the fjord were magnificent, and the hotel was excellent. I spent ten nights at Tufi Resort and had an outstanding time. The diving was awesome, and all the staff, both at the hotel and with the dive team, were great. Thank you, Tufi Resort.

We loved the range of things to do, from snorkeling and cultural tours to just taking in the scenery. The diving was world-class, and the crew were professional and knowledgeable, so even the less experienced swimmers in our group had an amazing time. Every meal was fresh and delicious, and the staff were kind, attentive, and keen to make sure we were comfortable. We spent Easter at Tufi Resort with my husband and two friends. The setting above the pristine fjord, ocean, and lush mountains is breathtaking, and the well-kept resort feels comfortable and charming while fitting its surroundings. Managers Luther and Anne welcomed us like family and created such a relaxed atmosphere that we left feeling part of the Tufi family. We can’t wait to return. Highly recommend it for a unique, enriching escape in Papua New Guinea.

The setting above the fjords, looking out toward the Solomon Sea, is beautiful, and the diving and snorkeling are fabulous, with healthy reefs, lots of fish, and pelagics. The resort and dive staff are delightful, the food is good, and they cater to vegetarians. The common area WIFI is fast and free. Ms. Honey is also prompt and helpful with correspondence. Tufi is a terrific place to decompress before or after a PNG trip. The private Tropic Air charter that brings you there has the same ownership as the lodge, so unlike Ajr Niugini, they’ll get you there without cancellations or long delays. On the flight back to POM, you can check in right at the resort, apparently the world’s quickest check-in. You can even dip your breakfast coffee while checking in, then go back to your eggs. Tufi was a US PT boat base in WW2, and you can do a free house reef dive on war relics such as PT boats at 47 meters. There are also two deep bombers, but they’re three hours away by boat each way, making the trip prohibitively expensive for one diver at 10,000 Kina. I’ll need to come back when I know there’s a group who wants to dive those wrecks. A magical place!
