Baguio Palace Hotel

The roadside fan room was much too noisy for us. Its balcony looked out over the busy city, but traffic on the steep road was loud, especially when vehicles revved. After 15 minutes we asked to move. For an extra ₱500 we got a room at the back with air-conditioning and a balcony facing a wall. It was much quieter and we slept comfortably. We chose Baguio Palace Hotel for its location. Burnham Park, the athletic bowl for morning runs, and the Baguio Night Market are all walkable, and there’s no need to drive around looking for parking. If you do bring a car, the hotel has its own bi-level underground parking. We paid around ₱2,000 a night through Agoda, one of the cheapest options nearby. It looked newly renovated, with fresh paint inside and out, a welcoming lobby, and clean bathrooms. The neighborhood is lively, with restaurants and bars close by, including a hidden bar made to look like a telephone booth right outside the lobby. The staff were polite and helpful, though the service was basic. At check-in they asked for a ₱1,000 cash deposit. We only use credit cards, so they let us leave one valid ID instead. The roadside rooms could really use double-glass or soundproof windows. That would help light sleepers. It’s good value if you want a central spot with convenient parking, but the fan rooms facing the road are hard to tolerate if traffic noise bothers you.
