After hiking from Cambulo to Batad and stopping at Tappiyah Waterfalls, we arrived at Batad View Inn. Irene from Banaue Greenfields had kindly arranged the hike with our guide, Don Don. Friendly Jeff welcomed us and cooked a delicious dinner. The accommodation was simple and clean, with incredible views of the rice terraces. Bathrooms were shared, and there was a hot shower available. We were tired after the long walk, so we chose a refreshing bucket of cold water instead. The next morning, Don Don gave us an unexpected short lesson about traditional rice milling on the property. Thanks, Jeff, for the wonderful meal and warm welcome.

We stayed nearly a week, relaxing, hiking the terraces, and visiting the famous falls nearby. The restaurant downstairs from the main accommodation has an astounding view of the Batad Rice Terraces. The place felt homely and quiet, a great escape from the bustle of city life and everyday routines. A lovely spot if you want some peace and quiet.

After getting off the bus, Don welcomed us and took us to Banaue Greenfields Inn and Restaurant, owned by Irene. We rested and talked there briefly before continuing to Batad View Inn, also owned by Irene. Both places were peaceful. The meals were a real highlight. Jeff is a great cook, and everything we ate was delicious. One staff member also offered us fresh green mangoes, a thoughtful gesture we loved. We were the only tourists in the area during our stay, which gave us a chance to talk with the kind, welcoming locals. We enjoyed exploring on our own, without a guide, and at our own pace. A transport tip for solo travelers: if you go with Don when you arrive, be ready to take the tricycle to Batad, which costs 800 pesos total. Otherwise, you may have to pay again to return to town and wait for public transport. Greenfields is quite far from Banaue center, so plan your ride ahead. Coming back from Batad, we took the public bus for 200 pesos per person. You can even ride on the roof for amazing mountain and rice terrace views. We highly recommend it!

The rooms and separate toilet and bath are simple but clean, which fits Batad’s adventurous rather than luxurious feel. The location overlooking the terraces is excellent, and the food was great. The company made the place for me: Ramon, Jefferson, and the rest of the crew shared plenty of stories and made me feel at home. Ask them about Ifugao culture. There’s also a group of native houses on the property that you can look around or even stay overnight in.

The rooms were clean and nice, the food was good, and the staff were friendly. Views across the valley and rice terraces were amazing, and it’s well connected to the village, falls, and viewpoints. I’d choose this place again. Just take the luggage you need. The walk over loose ground and up and down stairs takes about 20 minutes, but it’s worth it.
