Chillax Boracay

The location is lovely, close to some nice restaurants and a beach, while away from the touristy part. The kitchen is basic but perfectly fine for cooking simple things. The staff are friendly, though some don’t speak English, which can make things a bit confusing. That’s just how it is; I don’t expect everyone to speak fluent English. The room I stayed in was very damp, with lots of condensation, and you could tell it didn’t get much air. I don’t have a solution, but that’s the reality. It’s okay for a couple of nights, but nothing memorable and not somewhere I’d want to return to. 4.0 is about right.

Chillax Hostel, 8-8-2025. Value for money: 3.5/5. Fine for a couple of nights, but it’s well away from downtown, White Beach, and the lively area. You’ll walk around 10 minutes to reach the main road for Stations 1 and 2. The stairs are very steep, which makes getting up to the office, kitchen, and pool area difficult. There were plenty of useful things: friendly staff, quiet surroundings, clean rooms, hot showers, comfortable mattress and pillow, and no bed bugs in the bed. Each room has a window-type AC. I asked for a standing fan and they provided a good one. There’s also a kitchen with a gas stove and lots of pots, dishes, cups, spoons, and other basics. Free hot and cold water is available from the dispenser in the office on the top floor. I’m 6'3 and found the bed a little short. The cover sheets are thin, so you need to turn off the AC before sleeping. The plumbing drains slowly while you shower, leaving the floor wet and covered with up to 1.5 cm of water. I mentioned it to the service guy, who said he’d take care of it.

I spent 8 wonderful days here. The place is close to diniwid beach, which is perfect for relaxing since the area isn’t crowded. Rooms were lovely, tidy, and clean, and the shower had hot water. There’s also a pool on the top floor. The price was very cheap but the service was excellent. The staff were approachable and helpful. Thank you, guys! See you again!!!

The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the nearby beach was a plus, but I can’t recommend this hostel to a woman. One night I woke at 2:30 a.m. to find a stranger in the bed next to me, eating and making a lot of noise. She wasn’t checked into our room and had no backpack or suitcase. She was wearing the same clothes as the night before, then ran out as we slowly woke in the morning. Even though she was a woman, it was frightening and very strange. The room door couldn’t be locked, and nearly all the lockers were broken, so we couldn’t safely store our things. The beds were tiny, perhaps 1.60 m long, and the shower smelled like a toilet. The pool was so dirty it couldn’t be used. I had booked a female dorm through Hostelworld. They emailed me, but it went to spam, and when I replied 48 hours later they said there was no female dorm space, even though I’d paid part of the cost and had a confirmation. After two or three emails, they said a bed would be available after all. When I arrived, there were still two free beds in the female dorm. The bill I paid by bank transfer was much too high, and they refunded almost 2,200 pesos because the amount on the bill was wrong.
