I booked 3 nights after seeing more than 30 glowing Google reviews, but I came away wondering how reliable those reviews were. The resort was quiet most of the time, with only one or two other guests. Wifi worked consistently well, and so did the A/C. The older woman at reception was nice, and she cooked the one meal I ate there, though it was almost too much pork. I saw little of the staff, never met the owner, and only heard from her on WhatsApp. For nearly $100 a night, I was surprised there was no hot water, fridge, or drying rack in the rooms, and the mattress was extremely hard. It’s a fairly new resort, but they hadn’t installed electric run-through water heaters or provided decent mattresses or somewhere to dry wet swimsuits. None of the reviews mentioned these shortcomings. The resort is far out of the way, in a tiny village with nothing to do. I’d asked in advance about renting a scooter, and they provided one for 500 Pesos a day. It was a very old Honda click in poor shape: the front suspension was shot, the brakes were at 50% at best, and it reliably overheated after 20 minutes of riding. I found the coolant compartment empty and bought coolant to refill it, but that didn’t seem to help much. The scooter seems to belong to the resort, so they should replace it with one in better condition or arrange a rental from the next town, about 10 mins away. I hope this honest account helps anyone considering a stay here.

The wide, clean sandy beach and peaceful setting were lovely, and our room was clean and nice. The hearty breakfast kept us going for most of the day. Sandra was generous and big-hearted, and made us feel looked after right away. We got to Sandra's beautiful, well-kept beach resort after a dusty off-road scooter ride around the island’s north. Sandra and her staff welcomed us warmly with a cool drink. Then we noticed the scooter had a flat tire. Within two minutes she’d found a young man to fix it and sent us off to enjoy the beach. What a relief. We’d definitely come back, and wish Sandra and the resort all the best. Gisela

Magalong Beach Resort was a peaceful, relaxing place where it felt like I had the whole property to myself. I had an amazing stay and only wish I could have stayed longer, but I had to get back to Manila. The owners and staff were so kind and welcoming, and I’m already looking forward to visiting again. Thank you, Magalong Beach Resort, for the unforgettable stay.

Sandra, the proprietor, was wonderful and helped arrange airport transport both ways, as well as private boat rentals for island hopping and snorkeling. The snorkeling in the area is fantastic, and the arrangements were all at a reasonable cost. Since the resort is tucked away, you’ll need a scooter or driver to get around Busuanga. We just got back from Magalong Beach Resort, about an hour outside Coron. It was an ideal place to get away, relax, and recharge, with beautiful grounds right on the water and a nice pool for guests. There’s no restaurant on site, but Izsa is a great cook who’ll prepare traditional meals by request for a reasonable charge. A few good restaurants are nearby too, including Cocovana, Sakura, Buluang Fish Pond, Rose and Salva's, and Miley's.

The villas and the sea-facing pool are lovely. With its sunsets, cool breeze, gentle waves, and peaceful natural beauty, Magalong Beach Resort was a relaxing, rejuvenating escape, a paradise of tranquility.
