City Pod Hotel

The room was clean, the aircon worked fine, and the staff were nice and friendly. Most other parts of the stay were frustrating. There was no sound isolation: you could hear everything from the hallway, and the band outside played until 1am so we couldn’t sleep. The rooms are small, and there was no hot water. One room had faulty electrical installation, which kept disconnecting the aircon and lights. The internet kept dropping, and the TV remote didn’t work. There was a kettle but no glasses, coffee, or tea, so it wasn’t clear what the kettle was for. A laminated notice on the window said not to open the blinds because they were under maintenance 😅 There’s no restaurant inside beyond breakfast, but they charge a corkage fee if you bring outside food and want to use the downstairs tables. Breakfast was 250php for Filipino breakfast, while next door it was only 180. They also ask for a 1000 php deposit at check-in.

We checked in for two days hoping to get some rest, but twice we had to switch rooms because there was no power in each room we moved to. It was too hot to sleep properly. Each transfer took so long that we were sweaty and still without sleep by the time we got into another room. Such a poor hotel.

NO BIDETS, not even in the common area on the ground floor 🤧 You have to pay 250 pesos per person to use the tables in the common area for eating 👎 The bathroom has one shared door for the shower and toilet, so you can only close one at a time. There’s no solid wall either, and people in the bedroom can see your silhouette when you use the toilet 💀

I can’t comment on the hotel’s rating, but as someone who cares about CR, I was disappointed by the lack of a bidet and somewhere to hang clothes. There’s no breakfast buffet either, and no ramp at the entrance, so you have to carry your suitcases up the stairs.
