Sangat Island Dive Resort

We loved the quiet, remote feel of this place. There are no other resorts on the island, and about 20 guests and staff in total. The thatched-roof beachfront bungalows overlook a lovely beach, with a coral reef right in front for snorkeling. All meals are included in the room package since there are no restaurants on the island, and both the food and service were excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. There’s plenty to do even if you don’t dive, or you can simply relax. We snorkeled at one of the shallow wrecks, rented kayaks, and paddled to a stunning coral garden and a hot spring in a mangrove forest. We loved the hot spring so much we went twice, and had it to ourselves both times. For divers, it’s a prime spot for world-class shipwreck diving, with several WW2 Japanese shipwrecks nearby and the equipment and expertise to support dives. Most guests were divers and enjoyed the wrecks. We’re not divers yet, but wish we’d had more time to take the PADI course and explore the wrecks. We also hope to return to the coral garden. We loved this resort and hope to stay longer next time. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Sangat Island Dive Resort!

We had such a lovely stay on this beautiful island. The staff made it special, they were warm, friendly, and fun. I’m a new diver, and Eco was an amazing instructor. 10/10, thank you Eco!!!! The reefs and wrecks are incredible, and they’re all just 10 - 15 mins away, so you get great access. The rooms are stunning and comfortable, with amazing views. The place attracts a lovely crowd too, one of the highlights.

We had an amazing four-night stay at this quiet, beautiful hotel, a little piece of paradise. The staff were really friendly, and I dived with tom, who was an amazing instructor. The wrecks were impressive to see. If you want to unwind and enjoy beautiful dives, this is the place to go!

The off-grid setup at Sangat was impressive. We toured the solar panels, battery storage, inverter, and desalination system, and the drinking water tasted fine for us. We also really enjoyed the diving: across 10 dives, Tom and the other staff looked after us well, and Tom guided us through our last three advanced open water dives. The gear worked for the local sites, the wrecks were fun to swim through, and the coral looked healthy. We spotted loads of tropical fish, including at least three pufferfish, plus two turtles and a cuddlefish. We spent four lovely nights here and wished we could stay longer. The food was tasty and filling, service was excellent, and the simple rooms had the essentials, hammocks, and lounge chairs. Bring bug spray for mosquitoes, though they weren’t too bad during our early December visit. And expect monkeys!
