Malapascua Starlight Resort

StarLight is an easy choice for our next island visit. The staff were super friendly, laundry came back extra fast, and the location is top notch. Our room was huge, with a really comfortable mattress and a spacious, lovely bathroom. We also had our own spot on a pretty big veranda.

It's right in the middle of everything, and the rooms are kept up nicely. The AC is modern and quiet, and the bathroom is decent. A chilled water dispenser would be a nice addition, but that's a small thing.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was clean, though on the small side. It had strong hot water and AC, plus an outdoor hanger for drying clothes. There are lots of places nearby to eat and go diving. The port and sunrise area are both an easy, fairly short walk.

We came for one night and stayed almost a week. For us as a backpacking couple, it was great value, and we'd definitely recommend it and come back. The room was a comfortable size for two, and the balcony view was especially lovely in the mornings. It was quiet enough to properly rest after diving. Staff were kind, and room cleaning was free when requested. There's a kettle, cups, and hangers in the bathroom and on the balcony. Water pressure was weak, but still fine for a refreshing shower, and you can get warm water. The older AC units in the front rooms work well, though they're a little noisy. The beach is about a five-minute walk away, and the mercado is close too. If you're in a front room, karaoke from the market can get noisy, especially on weekends. We ate all our meals at the excellent nearby restaurant Guanna's Place. Wi-Fi wasn't reliable, so I used mobile data when needed. Tap water is salty, but free fresh drinking water is provided, which matters a lot on the island.
