The staff worked hard and were incredibly friendly, and the property itself was clean, cute, and well cared for. Still, the social atmosphere didn't feel like the Mad Monkey places we knew from Cambodia. Guests mostly kept to themselves, and the group dynamic felt a little odd, so it wasn't as open or fun as we'd hoped. We came expecting an especially memorable New Year's Eve and a chance to meet people, based on our past Mad Monkey stays. Maybe we set our expectations too high. If you're after the usual Mad Monkey social experience, I'd pick another location.

As a first-time solo traveler, I found Mad Monkey Panglao went beyond what I'd expected. The staff were welcoming, the drinks at the bar were inexpensive, and the atmosphere was great. I'd come back for sure.

The Bohol tour was a good part of the stay, and our driver jack was really nice. We were in a clean four-bed dorm with huge beds. Bring or pick up the free earplugs, since a lot of noise comes through the windows. The food felt pricey for what you got, especially the pizzas. On the whole, the stay was alright.

I was here for five days, and the rooms were clean with comfortable beds. The hostel food tasted great, though some portions seemed small to me. Its location is a drawback: it's a long way from Alona Beach and the island's more popular beaches, unless you rent a motorbike. In the evenings there was usually some social activity that helped guests connect, which matters a lot when you're traveling alone. The staff made me feel at ease, and Jess does a great job.

The Bohol countryside tour with Jeffery was one of the best tours we've taken in the Philippines, and the food at mad monkey Panglao was amazing too. The staff were so much fun and wonderful. I'd strongly recommend this place if you want a party hostel in Panglao.
